AIAIAI is an audio design company dedicated to developing high quality audio products for everyday use. Headquartered in Copenhagen, AIAIAI is proud to contribute to Denmark’s worldwide reputation as leader in acoustic and electro-acoustic design and engineering. One of their most popular products, the TMA-2 gave the basics to my design process.

The AXY is a wireless audio experience system which is intended to reduce the unnecessary gadgets people have in their everyday lives.
The modular construction allows the owner to use it in three different ways. It is a simple and smart soulution which can replace all average household and on-the-go audio products that people need.

The AXY can be used as over-ear headphones, stereo desktop speakers and mono portable speakers.

This is achieved with built-in automatic Bluetooth signal reduction.
If the the AXY is used as speakers the sensors are not covered and are operating on full frequency but when the headband is attached it covers the sensors, and the AXY will switch to headphones mode by reducing the frequency, to prevent hearing damage.
This is done automatically without any unnecessary smartphone applications.

The speakers have a three stance switch: stereo, mono and off.
In mono mode the speakers are generating two different Bluetooth signals, which allows the user to only listen to one of the speakers, while the other can be used by someone else with a different Bluetooth device.
The shape of the headband clearly communicates which direction should the headphones face.
This allows the use of covered signs which are only visible while assembling the headphones.
This results in a very clean and minimal aesthetics.

The AXY splits up to five main parts:
- headband
- 2 wireless speakers
- 2 cushions/speaker holders.
